Early Life and Education
Mushegh Mikaelyan, an Armenian political figure, was born on November 7, 1948, in Talin, Armenia. In 1969, he graduated from Yerevan State University with a degree in philology.
Journalistic Career
Mikaelyan's journalistic career began in 1969 as a literary staff member for the magazine "Garun." Over the years, he held various positions in journalism, including section editor, executive secretary, and deputy editor of the newspaper "Avangard." From 1988 to 1991, he served as executive secretary of the newspaper "Sovetskaya Armeniya."
Founding of Publications
In the early 1990s, Mikaelyan played a key role in founding several publications. He established and edited weekly newspapers such as "Urbat" and "Azatarmart" and monthly journals like "Aspar," "Varuzhan," "Mitk," and "Zangak."
Political Career
Mikaelyan entered politics in 1995 as the head of the "Droshak" newspaper in Armenia. In 1998, he became the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Yerkir." From 1999 to 2003, he served as a member of parliament and was a member of the standing committee on science, education, culture, and youth.
Deputy Minister of Education
On November 10, 2003, Mikaelyan was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Armenia. He also held the position of member of parliament again from 2003 to 2014, serving on the standing committee on defense, national security, and internal affairs.
