Biography of Mikolas Yatautis

Mikolas Yatautis was a Lithuanian Soviet actor and theater director. He was born on March 21, 1933, in the village of Kuktiskes, Utyan district.

Education and Early Career

From 1951 to 1953, Yatautis studied journalism at Vilnius University. He then continued his education at the philological faculty of Vilnius Pedagogical Institute from 1953 to 1956. During this time, Yatautis also completed his studies at the drama studio of the Lithuanian Academic Drama Theater, under the guidance of Aleksandras Karnagis.

Theatrical Career

After completing his studies, Yatautis joined the troupe of Panevezys Drama Theater and worked there until 1964. From 1964 to 1993, he served as a director and artistic director at Panevezys People's Operetta Theater, and from 1998 onwards, he became the artistic director of Panevezys Musical Theater. Yatautis also taught at the J. Svyadas Pedagogical Music School for many years and worked as a director for city and national song festivals.

Political Involvement

From 1990 to 1994, Yatautis served as a deputy in the Panevezys City Council.

Film Career

Yatautis began his film career in 1960 and gained recognition after starring in the famous detective TV film "The Favorite" directed by Vasile Brescanu. He also appeared in another well-known detective film called "Tony Wendis' Mistake," also directed by Vasile Brescanu. Some of his other notable films include "The Secret of Villa Greta," "Rafferty," and "Rich Man, Poor Man."
