Ukrainian Cosmonaut Candidate

Oksana Klymenkois a researcher at the M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1996, she was selected as a member of the Ukrainian cosmonaut corps to undergo training for flights aboard the Space Shuttle system.

Space Shuttle Mission Preparation

In November 1996, Klymenko arrived in the United States to begin pre-flight training. However, due to medical reasons, she was forced to discontinue her training and return to Ukraine shortly after.

Continued Research

Despite the setback, Klymenko continued her research at the M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany. She remains an active member of the scientific community and is involved in ongoing research projects in botany.
