In 1978, Nilekani began collaborating with the company Patni Computer Systems. Three years later, Nilekani (along with six equally enterprising individuals) established an organization focused on software development.
Leadership in Infosys Technologies Ltd
Currently, Nilekani serves as the chairman and managing director of Infosys Technologies Ltd. The company has become one of the largest organizations, providing software solutions to a vast number of clients. Nilekani's leadership has been effective and has earned recognition. In 2004, he received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in India. He has been acknowledged as one of the youngest and most talented entrepreneurs in the top twenty leaders at the World Economic Forum Foundation. Nilekani has also been named one of the "Mighty Businessmen of Asia" and recognized as one of the hundred most influential people in the world.
