Biography of Natalia Sniadanko
Natalia Sniadanko is a Ukrainian writer, journalist, and translator. She completed her studies in Ukrainian philology at Lviv University from 1990 to 1995, and later pursued Slavic studies and Romance studies at the University of Freiburg from 1995 to 1997.
Participation in MMYUNNA TUGA
Together with poets Maryana Savka, Marianna Kiyanovska, singer Yulia Mishchenko, artist Anna Sereda, and her classmate Natalia Tomkiv, Natalia Sniadanko took part in the formation of a poetic, theatrical, and musical group called MMYUNNA TUGA.
Works and Publications
Sniadanko's novel "Collection of Passions, or the Adventures of a Young Ukrainian" was published in Poland in 2004. The book was also translated and published in Russian as "Collection of Passions" (Moscow: Idea-Press, 2005). In addition, her novel "The Sterility Syndrome" was released in Russian under the title "Agatangel, or The Sterility Syndrome" (Moscow: "Fluid", 2008).
Translations
Natalia Sniadanko is known for her translations from German (Franz Kafka, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Günter Grass, Judith Hermann, Stefan Zweig), Polish (Czesław Miłosz, Zbigniew Herbert, Yaroslav Ivaskevych, Jan Bzhekhva), and Russian (Andrey Kurkov) languages.
She has been published in Lviv and Kyiv newspapers such as "Lvivska Hazeta," "Subotnia Pochta," "Zerkalo Nedeli," as well as magazines like "Profil-Ukraine" and "Ukrainska Nedelia." Her works have also appeared in international publications such as "Stolichnye Novosti," "Krytyka," "Gazeta Wyborcza," "Sueddeutsche Zeitung," and "Odra."
