Biography of Natalia and Valeria Goncharova

Natalia and Valeria Goncharova are the tallest and most attractive attacking volleyball players of Dynamo. They were born in Ukraine and started their sports career at a young age. Natalia was born on June 1, 1989, and Valeria was born on January 3, 1988. They both achieved great success in their volleyball careers, with Natalia becoming the champion of Russia and a silver medalist in the Champions League, while Valeria won the European Championship among juniors.

Early Life and Sports Background

In their family, sports were always a part of their lives. Their mother was into basketball, their father and grandfather were into athletics, and their grandmother and great-grandmother played volleyball. Natalia and Valeria initially tried other sports such as swimming and tennis before eventually finding their passion for volleyball.

Their first coach was actually a football player who helped them reach a certain level before a professional coach took over. They started training at a young age and eventually played on a professional level in Rovno, Ukraine.

Leaving Ukraine and Moving to Moscow

As they grew older, Natalia and Valeria realized that there were limited opportunities for them to progress in Ukrainian volleyball. They wanted to go abroad to study and improve their skills, and Russia provided the perfect opportunity. They decided to move to Moscow, where they could join a more competitive volleyball scene.

The transition was not easy, especially at such a young age. They had to adjust to a new city, a new team, and a new environment. However, they supported each other throughout the process and quickly adapted to their new life. The language barrier was not a problem since Russian and Ukrainian are similar.

Challenges and Successes

When they first arrived in Moscow, they had to start with the second team before eventually making their way up to the main team. They were determined to gain more playing experience, so starting from the bottom did not bother them.

In their volleyball career, they faced disappointments such as losing in the final of the Champions League. However, they also had memorable moments, like celebrating with Italian players and singing Italian songs at a banquet. They have set personal goals for themselves and strive to play and win in every match.

Aspirations in Russian National Team

Natalia has been eligible to play for the Russian national team since 2010, but the final decision lies with the coach. They are excited about the possibility of representing Russia in international competitions.

Life Outside of Sports

Outside of volleyball, Valeria is passionate about music and enjoys watching horror movies and romantic dramas. She is known to shed a tear during emotional scenes. Natalia, on the other hand, prefers to watch new movies rather than rewatching old ones.

Despite their different personalities, they share similar tastes and opinions on many things. They are often complimented on their unique dynamic as sisters both on and off the court.
