Jelena Popović: A Serbian Piano Prodigy

Early Education and Recognition

Jelena Popović, a Serbian pianist, began her musical journey in Belgrade under the tutelage of Arbo Valdmaa. At a tender age, she triumphed in two international children's competitions, earning the prestigious accolade of "true prodigy" from the International Music Guide.

Vienna Conservatory and Beyond

At the age of 14, Popović enrolled at the Vienna Conservatory under the guidance of Paul Badura-Skoda, graduating in 1987. She further honed her skills at the Juilliard School with Rudolf Firkusny and the Geneva Conservatory with Harry Datyner.

Triumph at the Clara Haskil Competition

In 1985, Popović's talent was recognized globally when she won first prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition. This victory propelled her into the international limelight.

Teaching and Recording Career

Since 1995, Popović has dedicated herself to teaching at the Vienna Conservatory, passing on her knowledge and passion to aspiring young pianists.
