Biography of Natascha McElhone
Natascha McElhone (born on December 14, 1971) is a British actress of theater, film, and television. She is best known for her roles in the films "Ronin," "The Truman Show," and "Solaris." She also portrays the lead role in the popular Showtime series "Californication."
Early Life and Education
Natascha McElhone, then known as Natascha Taylor, was born in Hampton Court, Surrey, England. Her parents were journalists. Growing up, she had one biological brother named Damon, who is now a screenwriter in Los Angeles, as well as two step-siblings. Her parents separated when she was two years old, and her Irish mother eventually moved the family to Brighton, where she later remarried journalist Roy Greenslade. McElhone currently resides in Ireland with her family.
Career
From the ages of six to twelve, McElhone took lessons in Irish dancing. After completing school, she enrolled in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Her theatrical career began with the lead role in the play "Richard III" at Regent's Park. She also performed in "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Cherry Orchard" at the same venue.
McElhone made her film debut in 1991 in the BBC series "Bergerac." In 1992, she appeared in an episode of "Absolutely Fabulous." Her first major film role came in 1996, alongside Anthony Hopkins in "Surviving Picasso." She gained widespread recognition for her role in "The Truman Show" with Jim Carrey. Following this, she starred in films such as "The Devil's Own" with Brad Pitt, "Ronin" with Robert De Niro, and "Solaris" with George Clooney.
In 2005, McElhone played the lead role in the NBC miniseries "Revelations" with Bill Pullman. In 2006, she took on the leading role in the West End production of "Honour" at the Wyndham Theatre, alongside Diana Rigg and Martin Jarvis. Shortly after, she agreed to portray Karen in the provocative series "Californication" with David Duchovny in the lead role.
In 2010, it was announced that McElhone would voice the character Marie in the video game "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow."
