Naum Anzelovich: A Biographer
Early Life and EducationNaum Markovich Anzelovich was born in 1888 to a carpenter father. He received his education at an electrical engineering school.
Revolutionary Activities
In 1905, Anzelovich joined the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP) as a Bolshevik. He engaged in party activities in St. Petersburg, Odessa, and Crimea, leading to multiple arrests.
Petrograd Uprising
After the Russian Revolution in 1917, Anzelovich became a member of the Petrograd Soviet Executive Committee and the Petrograd Military Revolutionary Committee. He played a crucial role as Commissar for Quartermaster Institutions.
Political and Trade Union Career
In the years that followed, Anzelovich held various positions in the Petrograd City Council, the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (1939), and the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions (VTSSPS).
Industrial Management and Soviet Control
During World War II, Anzelovich was appointed Deputy Commissar for Quartermaster Institutions. In 1949, he was demoted and became director of the Moscow Furniture Factory.
Later Life
Anzelovich passed away in 1952. His legacy remains somewhat controversial, as he was involved in the развертывание кампании массовых репрессий, a campaign of mass repressions during the Stalinist era.
