Early Career
Nazim Aliyev is an Azerbaijani footballer and coach who has left an indelible mark on the game in his country. As a striker, he achieved great success, becoming the top goalscorer of the Azerbaijani Premier League on four separate occasions.
Born in Azerbaijan, Aliyev began his professional career in 1986 with "Gyanjlik" in the USSR's second-tier league. After stints at "Voskhod" and "Khazar," he joined the prestigious "Neftchi" club in Baku in 1988.
Record-Breaking Performances
Aliyev established himself as a prolific goalscorer in the Azerbaijani Premier League. In its inaugural season in 1992, he shattered records by scoring a phenomenal 39 goals, setting a benchmark that has yet to be surpassed. His success continued throughout the mid-1990s, as he led the league in goalscoring for "Neftchi" (1995), "Karabakh" (1996), and "Dinamo" (1998).
International Career
Aliyev's exceptional performances at club level earned him a call-up to the Azerbaijan national team. He made his international debut in 1993, appearing in one match.
Transition to Coaching
After retiring from playing in 1999, Aliyev embarked on a coaching career. He gained experience as an assistant manager at "Karabakh" and "Shafa" before taking the helm at "Adliya." In 2006, he became the head coach of Azerbaijan's Olympic football team.
Helping Hand to Young Players
Aliyev has consistently played a pivotal role in the development of young Azerbaijani footballers. He served as an assistant with the U-19 and U-21 national teams and also coached the youth teams of "Terek" and "Neftchi."
Current Role
Since 2011, Aliyev has been working as an assistant coach with Shahin Diniev at the Iranian club "Rah Ahan." His vast experience and knowledge continue to benefit young players and aspiring coaches alike.
