Neal Casal is an American musician, guitarist, songwriter, and photographer. He gained the most recognition as a member of the band 'The Cardinals,' which was formed specifically to perform with the renowned Ryan Adams. However, Neal has also had a successful solo career, releasing 12 solo albums and performing countless live shows worldwide. Throughout his career, Casal has played with various bands, including 'Beachwood Sparks,' 'Hazy Malaze,' and currently 'Chris Robinson Brotherhood.'
Early Life and Career
Neal Casal was born on November 2, 1968, in Denville, New Jersey. He developed a passion for music from an early age and began working on his own songs and albums in 1990. After spending some time in a Los Angeles studio, Casal moved to New York and formed his own band, many of whom still perform with him today. He signed his first contract with the label 'Warner/Chappell Music,' but in 1993, he officially collaborated with the popular label 'Zoo Entertainment' to release his debut album, 'Fade Away Diamond Time.' The album received positive reviews from critics and gained popularity among American fans during his subsequent tour. Just a year later, his second studio album, 'Rain, Wind, and Speed,' was released on the 'Buy or Die Records' label.

Neal Casal has released a total of 12 solo albums to date, with his most recent being 'Sweeten the Distance' in 2011. He has also released three compilations: 'An introduction to Neal Casal - maybe California,' 'Leaving Traces,' and 'All Directions.' Since 2005, Casal has been playing with Ryan Adams' band, 'The Cardinals.' Their first album together, 'Easy Tiger,' debuted at number seven on the 'Billboard' charts. Casal has recorded five albums with Adams and has performed at numerous concerts. Another notable project of Neal's was his band 'Hazy Malaze,' founded in 2002 with Dan Fadel and Jeff Hill. Their debut album was recorded and mixed at 'Village Recorders' in just 11 days. Their second album, 'Blackout Love,' was released a year later, followed by 'Connections' in 2009.
