Early Life and Family HeritageNeal H. Moritz was born on June 6, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. His father, Milt, worked in public relations for American International Pictures, a film company owned by his own father, who managed a chain of movie theaters in Los Angeles. Thus, Neal became the third generation in his family to pursue a career in the film business.
Education and Early Film Endeavors
Moritz attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television, graduating in 1985. He began his practical work in 1990 with the film "Framed." After producing a series of projects with varying degrees of success, Moritz gained widespread recognition in 1997 with the slasher thriller "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
Teenage Slasher Mastermind
"I Know What You Did Last Summer" became a defining example of the teen slasher genre. Moritz capitalized on its success with two sequels: "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" in 1998 and "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer" in 2006.
