Early Life and Club CareerNestor Clausen, an Argentine footballer born on September 29, 1962, began his journey by joining the youth academy of Independiente at the age of 16. He made his debut for the first team in 1980, helping them win numerous Argentine championships, the Copa Libertadores, and the Intercontinental Cup in 1984.
International Success
In 1986, Clausen reached the pinnacle of his career by winning the World Cup with the Argentine national team. This triumph sparked interest from his Swiss ancestors, leading him to explore his family history and return to his ancestral homeland by joining FC Sion in 1989. There, he added a Swiss Cup and championship title to his accolades.
Return to Argentina
After a successful spell in Switzerland, Clausen returned to Argentina in 1995, where he played for Racing Club and helped them win the Supercopa Libertadores. He ended his playing career at Arsenal de Sarandí, having represented all three major clubs in his hometown of Avellaneda.
Coaching Career
Clausen's tactical prowess and coaching wisdom were honed under renowned managers such as Pastoriza, Menotti, and Bilardo. He initially coached in the youth ranks of Independiente before embarking on his professional coaching career in Bolivia. He led Oriente Petrolero to second place in the championship and won both the Apertura and Clausura championships with The Strongest.
International Coaching
After coaching in Argentina, Clausen ventured to Switzerland to manage Neuchâtel Xamax before ending his coaching career at Al-Kuwait in 2009. His international coaching experience includes managing clubs in Bolivia, Argentina, and Switzerland.
