Early Life and CareerNiamh Kavanagh is an Irish singer and television host who rose to fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. She began her musical career as a backing vocalist and contributed to the soundtrack of Alan Parker's film "The Commitments" in 1991. Kavanagh subsequently transitioned to a television presenting role.
Eurovision Triumph
In 1993, she emerged victorious at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "In Your Eyes." The track topped the Irish charts for 15 weeks and reached number 23 in the United Kingdom. However, Kavanagh's subsequent works failed to match the success of "In Your Eyes."
Post-Eurovision Career
Her most notable post-Eurovision release was "Red Roses for Me," a collaboration with The Dubliners. The song peaked at number 13 in the Irish charts. In 1999, she re-recorded "In Your Eyes." After retiring from music, Kavanagh returned to Irish television.
Eurovision Return
In 2010, Kavanagh was selected to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest once again with the song "It's for You." She finished 23rd in the final with 25 points.
