Early Life and Education
Born on October 8, 1980, to Beth Gardner and televangelist James Cannon, Nick Cannon displayed a passion for the arts from a young age. At the age of eight, he showcased his talents in his father's television program. In his teenage years, he moved to Hollywood and honed his comedic skills at respected venues like The Improv, The Laugh Factory, and the Comedy Store.
Cannon attended Quail Hollow Middle School and graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1998.
Television and Film Career
Cannon's television debut came in the Nickelodeon show "All That." He later hosted "The Nick Cannon Show" (2002) and starred in films such as "Drumline" (2002), "Love Don't Cost a Thing" (2003), "Roll Bounce" (2005), and "Underclassman" (2005). In 2005, he also launched the comedy show "Wild 'N Out," which he produced and hosted.
Cannon's voice acting credits include the animated film "Monster House" (2006). He starred in several subsequent films, including "Day of the Dead" (2007), "American Son" (2007), and "Short Circuitz" (2007).
Music Career
As a teenager, Cannon formed the rap duo Da Bomb Squad with a friend. In 2001, he signed with Jive Records and released his debut album a few years later, featuring the hit single "Your Pops Don't Like Me." In 2005, he founded his own label, Can I Ball Records, and planned to release a second album titled "Stages." However, its release was postponed and is now scheduled for 2009.
Personal Life
In 2008, Cannon married singer Mariah Carey. The couple welcomed a son, Moroccan, and a daughter, Monroe, in 2011. Cannon and Carey later divorced in 2016.
