Early Career and Transition
Nicolai Boilesen began his football journey at the amateur club Lille Hvam. In 2004, he joined Brondby's youth academy, where his impressive performances drew attention from European giants such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Fiorentina.
Ajax Years and Injury Woes
In 2009, Boilesen made the move to Ajax Amsterdam for €500,000. However, his first season was plagued by injuries. In 2010, he was included in the senior squad, making his Eredivisie debut against Heracles on April 3, 2011. Subsequently, an injury against PSV in September 2011 sidelined him until February 2012. A recurrence of the injury while playing against Manchester United in the Europa League kept him out for the rest of the season. Boilesen's return to the pitch occurred in the 2013 Dutch Super Cup against AZ Alkmaar. On November 10, he scored his first goal for Ajax against NEC Nijmegen. During his time at Ajax, he won four league titles and a Super Cup.
Copenhagen Transfer and Domestic Success
In 2017, Boilesen transferred to Copenhagen. He made his Danish Superliga debut on July 15 against Odense Boldklub. On November 26, he scored his maiden goal for Copenhagen against Lyngby Boldklub. That season, he helped Copenhagen win the league title and the Danish Cup.
International Career
Boilesen represented Denmark at the U-21 level in the 2011 European Championships. His senior international debut came in 2011, and on November 15, 2013, he scored his first goal for Denmark against Norway.
