Early Life and BMX Career

Kiymann, a Dutch BMX racer, was born in Lutten. His passion for BMX began at the tender age of seven. In 2014, he emerged victorious in the junior category at the UCI BMX World Championships. That same year, he and Vibe Scholten clinched a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.

World Champion and Olympic Success

On July 25, 2015, at just 19 years old, Kiymann achieved a remarkable feat by winning the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships in Zolder, Belgium, in the men's category. Prior to this triumph, he had secured a second-place finish in the Time Trial. Kiymann became the second Dutch BMX World Champion after Robert de Wilde's victory in 1999.

At the 2016 Olympic Games, Kiymann placed seventh. Unfortunately, a fall in the quarterfinals left him with an ankle ligament and metatarsal injury. He underwent a period of recovery from August 2016 to February 2017.

Personal Life and Achievements

Following a serious accident involving his friend and fellow BMX rider Jelle van Gorkom in January 2018, Kiymann experienced a spasm during the 2018 UCI BMX World Championships. Despite this setback, he bounced back to win the 2019 European BMX Championships and culminated his career with a gold medal at the 2020 BMX Olympics.

Family Legacy

Joost Kiymann comes from a BMX family. His younger brother, Justin Kiymann, is also a BMX racer. Justin competed as a junior at the 2016 UCI BMX World Championships.
