Early Career
Tom Dumoulin, a Dutch professional road cyclist, began his career in 2010 with ParkHotel Rooding. He made an immediate impact, winning stage 7 of the GiroBio and the overall classification of the Grand Prix of Portugal.
Breakthrough
In 2012, Dumoulin joined Team Project 1t4i (now known as Team Giant-Alpecin). He established himself as a skilled time trialist, finishing second in the general classification of the Eneco Tour in 2013.
A Defining Year
2014 proved to be a breakout year for Dumoulin. He won the Dutch National Time Trial Championship and the time trial stage of the Critérium International. He also placed second in the overall standings of the Tour of Belgium and the Tour of Alberta, earning the Best Young Rider award in both races. Additionally, he secured second place in the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and third place in the Eneco Tour, claiming the stage win in the time trial. His season culminated in a bronze medal in the individual time trial at the World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain.
Continued Success
Dumoulin began the 2015 season with a victory in the time trial on stage 6 of the Tour of the Basque Country. He went on to win his first Grand Tour in 2017, the Giro d'Italia. Additionally, he was crowned the World Time Trial Champion in 2017.
Olympic Glory
Dumoulin secured two Olympic silver medals in the individual time trial, in 2016 and 2020. He also won two bronze medals in the mixed team time trial, in 2016 and 2020.
Current Team
Dumoulin currently rides for Team Jumbo-Visma. He remains one of the world's top time trialists and continues to compete at the highest level of professional cycling.
