Biography of Nicole Heesters
Nicole Heesters is a German theater and film actress. She was born to Johannes Heesters and his first wife, Flemish actress and opera singer, Louise Ghijs. Her childhood was spent in Austria.
Early Career
Her film career began in the early 1950s, where she started with small roles in German movies. In 1953, she played her first significant role in the film "Me and My Wife" (Ich und meine Frau), and in 1954, she appeared in the film "Let This Song Accompany You" (Dieses Lied bleibt bei dir). That same year, she made her debut on stage at the Vienna National Theater, playing the lead role in the renowned opera "Gigi". Following this, Nicole Heesters performed at the Drama Theater in Düsseldorf.
Accident and Career Break
Unfortunately, in 1956, Nicole Heesters was involved in a car accident in South America, resulting in serious facial injuries and a 19-year interruption in her career. Despite the accident, she did not stop her acting career. She enrolled in the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, where she studied theater. Theater became her cornerstone, leading her to television. During her theater career, she worked with directors such as Peter Stein and Andrea Bret. She performed on stages in Düsseldorf, the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Bochum Theater, and many others.
Current Life and Achievements
Nicole Heesters is married to German set designer Pit Fischer and resides in Hamburg. Her daughter, Saskia Fischer, is also an actress, and her son, Johannes Fischer, works as an event organizer. For her outstanding work in theater, Nicole Heesters has received the Golden Curtain Award in Berlin and the Golden Mask Award in Hamburg. In 1973, she became a member of the Hamburg Academy of Arts. She received the Rolf Mares Award for her performance in the play "Vita and Virginia" (Vita und Virginia) at the Hamburg Chamber Theater. Even today, Nicole Heesters continues to appear on screen.
