Biography of Nikolai Drozdetsky
Nikolai Vladimirovich Drozdetsky, a Soviet ice hockey player, was born in 1957. He was an Honored Master of Sports and a forward. He was one of the brightest forwards of the 1980s and graduated from the "Golden Puck" school. He played for the "Smena" team in the Kolpino district of Leningrad. In the spring of 1972, at the age of 14, he won his first medal, a bronze one. He then played for the factory team at the famous Izhorsky Plant.
During one of the matches, Nikolai Georgievich Puchkov noticed him and invited him to join the Leningrad SKA. From 1975 to 1979 and 1987 to 1989, he played for SKA (Leningrad), and from 1979 to 1987, he played for CSKA. He was a seven-time Soviet champion from 1980 to 1986 and won the bronze medal in the 1987 Soviet championship. In the Soviet championships, he played 503 matches and scored 252 goals.
Drozdetsky made his debut in the World Championship in 1981. He became a world champion in 1981 and 1982 and won the bronze medal in the 1985 World Championship. He was also a three-time European champion in 1981, 1982, and 1985. In the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, he won the gold medal. He also won the Canada Cup in 1981, scoring 2 goals in 7 matches. In total, he played 33 matches in World Championships and Winter Olympic Games, scored 21 goals.
At the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, Drozdetsky became the most productive player of the Soviet national team, scoring 10 goals. Unfortunately, the hockey player passed away in 1995.
