Early Life and Background

Boris Mikhailov was born on October 6, 1944, in Moscow, into a working-class family. His father, Peter, was a plumber, and his mother, Maria, worked in a tobacco factory. Boris had three brothers: Viktor, Alexander, and Anatoly.

Hockey Career

Early Beginnings and Rise to Prominence

Mikhailov began playing hockey at the age of twelve at the Trudovye Rezervy stadium in Moscow. At 18, he joined Avangard Saratov, where he spent three seasons. Despite the team's poor performance, Boris stood out as a talented forward.

In 1967, Mikhailov moved to Lokomotiv Moscow, one of the strongest hockey clubs in the Soviet Union. After two years, he was drafted into the army and joined the legendary CSKA Moscow team at the age of 23.

Achievements at CSKA and the Soviet National Team

At CSKA, Mikhailov quickly established himself as a formidable force. He was renowned for his exceptional stickhandling skills, unwavering determination, and fearless play. Along with his legendary linemates Valery Kharlamov and Vladimir Petrov, Mikhailov formed the iconic line known as "The Green Machine."

Mikhailov's achievements with CSKA and the Soviet national team were numerous:
