Biography of Nina Hynes
Nina Hynes is an Irish singer, songwriter, and musician. From an early age, she created music from everyday objects that were not typically used for that purpose. As she grew older, she continued to pursue her unconventional interests and became one of the most renowned experimental musicians in Europe.
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Hynes developed a passion for music at a young age, particularly experimental music. Her aunt worked at a local hospital, and Hynes enjoyed collecting sound tapes from cardiographs. She would later use recordings of steady heartbeats as background sounds for her songs. Around the same time, Nina began learning to play the piano and writing her own songs.
Musical Career and Success
In 1999, Hynes made her musical debut with the EP 'Creation.' Her first full-length album, 'Staros,' was released in 2002. It was the single 'Mono Prix' that brought her true popularity, especially in Ireland. Interestingly, despite her success in Ireland, Hynes decided to relocate to Germany in 2002, where she still resides today.
After moving to Germany, Hynes released music through the independent label 'Reverb' and her own label 'Transplant Records.' She gained significant recognition in the European underground music scene, particularly in Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Hynes's popularity was further boosted by her active touring schedule as part of her band 'Nina Hynes and The Husbands' from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2002, she had toured the United States and collaborated with experimental music composers such as Hector Zazou and Harold Budd, who had also worked with Brian Eno.
In 2007, Hynes released her second album, 'Really Really Do.' She also made several television appearances on shows like 'The View,' 'No Disco,' and 'Other Voices' on RTE. In 2009, she performed on the project 'Children in Need,' recording songs for a special album.
In 2010, Hynes began collaborating with the Mattress Factory museum in Pittsburgh and completed work on a new album for the project 'A Generous Act.' However, the album has yet to be released. Currently, Nina is a member of musical groups 'A=Apple,' 'Sending Letters to the Sea,' and 'A Generous Act,' while also collaborating with various independent musicians.
Recent Years and Discography
On February 15, 2011, Hynes released her latest album, 'In A Million.' In the same year, she launched the 'Fund It' campaign, allowing fans to sponsor the release of her fourth studio album. The album was recorded in Celbridge, Kildare, Brussels, and Berlin. The campaign was highly successful, providing Hynes with enough funding for a full-length LP.
In April 2013, Hynes made her album 'Goldmine' available for download for a limited time through 'Transplant Records.' She also released a vinyl edition of the album and announced the upcoming digital release. The album was created in collaboration with Fabien Leseure and Sean Carpio.
Currently, Nina Hynes is a qualified sound engineer in addition to her musical pursuits.
