Early Life and EducationNodar Dumbadze, born on July 14, 1928, in Tbilisi, Georgia, grew up with relatives in the village of Khidistavi. After completing high school, he enrolled in Tbilisi State University's economics faculty, graduating in 1950.
Literary Beginnings
Dumbingadze's literary career began in 1957, after working as a university laboratory assistant. He joined the literary journals "Tsisqari" ("Dawn") and "Niani" ("Crocodile"). From 1962 to 1965, he served in the screenwriting department at the "Georgia-Film" film studio.
Return to "Niani" and Political Involvement
In 1965, Dumbadze returned to "Niani" as editor-in-chief, a position he held until 1973. His political involvement grew, and he became a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1979.
Legacy and Recognition
Nodar Dumbadze passed away on September 14, 1984, in Tbilisi. He left behind a significant body of work, including novels, short stories, and plays. His writing received critical acclaim and garnered him the prestigious Lenin Komsomol Prize.
