Early Life and Education
Natalya Aleksandrovna Simonya was born on January 30, 1932, in Tbilisi, Georgia. She specialized in Oriental studies, political science, and the socio-economic development of the Third World.
Academic Achievements
Academician and Corresponding MemberOn December 15, 1990, Simonya became a Corresponding Member of the Department of World Economy and International Relations. On May 29, 1997, she was elected as a Full Member (Academician) of the same department, specializing in world economy and international relations.
Director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations
On September 12, 2000, the Presidium Bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) appointed Simonya as the Director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the RAS, a position she held until her passing.
