Biography of Nolan Kasper

Nolan Kasper, an American alpine skier, is currently the youngest member of the American Olympic ski team. He is often referred to as the "dark horse" of the team. However, it was not by chance that Kasper made it to the Olympic team. It took a lot of hard work, training, and winning for him to achieve this feat.

Kasper was born in 1989 in Morristown, New Jersey. His father was a ski instructor, so Kasper started skiing at the age of three. He lived and trained at the Burke Mountain Academy in Warren, Vermont, and his first slopes were the ones at Hidden Valley.

Early Success and Career

In 2006, Kasper had his first stroke of luck when he performed incredibly well at the Junior Nationals, winning four silver medals in disciplines such as slalom, giant slalom, super-G, and combined downhill. In the 2008 season, Kasper stood on the podium four times and finished in the top ten in 13 different competitions. The 2009 season brought him a prestigious fifth place in the overall standings of the U.S. Champs. He also won silver in the U.S. Champs combined downhill and a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in slalom.

In January 2010, Kasper finished 24th in the World Cup in Austria, marking his debut in adult competitions. He had previously participated in the World Cup in November 2009, in Levi, Finland. These achievements caught the attention of the Olympic team coaches, and Kasper, together with Tommy Ford, became the youngest alpine skiers representing the United States at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Interestingly, Tommy is only a week older than Nolan. The two skiers have met each other in many championships, including the one in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in 2009.

Interests and Education

Aside from alpine skiing, Kasper is a fan of ice hockey and can often be seen playing at the Center of Excellence. He also enjoys playing soccer. Kasper made the decision to interrupt his studies at Dartmouth College in order to fully concentrate on his sporting achievements. This decision turned out to be the right one, as Kasper made a name for himself in important events leading up to the Olympics, including competitions in Kitzbühel and Schladming, Austria.
