Nonso Anozie was born on November 17, 1978 in London, England to parents of Nigerian descent. Raised in a Roman Catholic boarding school in Islington, he exhibited an early passion for theater and pursued acting as his vocation. He honed his craft at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Theater
In 2002, Anozie made his theatrical debut as King Lear in William Shakespeare's tragedy, becoming the youngest actor to portray the title role at the age of 24. His performances in "Othello" and various other Shakespearean productions earned him the prestigious Chinese Magnolia Stage Award and Ian Charleson Award.
Film
Anozie's film career initially saw him cast in supporting roles in major releases such as "Atonement," "RocknRolla," and "The Last Legion."
