Renowned Mathematician and Public Figure

Early Life and Education

Renowned Armenian scientist and public figure, was born on July 17, 1936, in Meghrashen village, Armenia. He completed his education at the Yerevan State University in 1958.

Academic Career

Institute of Mathematics, NAS

From 1964 to 1980, he served as the head of the Department of the Institute of Mathematics at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (NAS). He earned his Doctorate in Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 1971. From 1971 to 1989, he held positions as Head of Department and Deputy Director of the Institute.

Yerevan State University

In 1991, he became Rector of Yerevan State University, a prestigious institution in Armenia.

National Academy of Sciences

Ascendancy

He was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR in 1974 and became an Academician in 1990. He served as Director of the Institute of Mathematics at NAS from 1989 to 1991 and 1997 onwards.

Presidency and Honors

Since 2006, he has been the Academic Secretary of the Department of Mathematics, Mechanics, and Informatics, as well as a member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
