A Hero Remembered: The Life and Legacy of a Karabakh Commander
Early Life and Military InvolvementBorn in 1967 in Gyulatagh village (now Vardadzor) of Martakert District, the Karabakh politician and military commander made his mark in history. In 1990, he founded the village of Kajavan, transforming it into a stronghold for Armenian self-defense groups.
Arrest and Imprisonment
In October 1990, Azerbaijan's authorities arrested him and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment. However, his determination remained unwavering.
Liberation and Continued Resistance
In April 1992, he was exchanged for a group of Azerbaijani prisoners and immediately resumed his involvement in military operations. Despite being severely wounded twice, he refused to abandon the battlefield. He was appointed commander of the Martakert defensive district.
Political Ascent and Tragic Demise
In 1993, he graduated from Artsakh State University. That same year, he was elected as a member of the Supreme Council of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). Tragically, in 1993, his life was cut short by an assassination.

Despite his untimely demise, his legacy continues to inspire. He is remembered as a fearless leader who fought valiantly for the freedom of his people.
