Biography of Norman Fell

Norman Fell, whose real name was Norman Noah Feld, was born in 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, into a Jewish family. He attended Central High School in North Philadelphia and later enrolled at Temple University, where he studied drama and earned a bachelor's degree. During World War II, Norman served in the United States Army Air Forces.

Early Career

After the war, Norman Fell started to receive small television roles. He made his debut in the series 'Goodyear Television Playhouse' and went on to appear in projects such as 'Studio One in Hollywood', 'Star Tonight', and 'Joe & Mabel'. Over time, he became heavily involved in television, although he did not land many prominent roles. In 1976, Fell was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work in the series 'Rich Man, Poor Man'.

Breakthrough Role

In 1977, Norman Fell played one of his most significant roles as Stanley Roper in the comedy series 'Three's Company'. He won a Golden Globe for "Best Supporting Actor" for his performance. In 1979, he reprised his role in the spin-off series 'The Ropers', which unfortunately had a short run and ended in 1980. Throughout his career, Norman Fell appeared in at least 150 films and television shows, but he was best known and recognized as Stanley Roper.

Later Career

Despite being primarily known for his portrayal of Stanley Roper, Norman Fell also appeared in other notable television series such as 'Bewitched', 'I Spy', 'The Wild Wild West', 'Ironside', 'Medical Center', 'Magnum, P.I.', 'Matlock', and many more. He had fewer appearances in feature films, but he can be seen in movies like the 1991 musical comedy 'For the Boys' and the 1993 comedies 'Hexed' and 'The Naked Truth'. His final film role was in the 1996 drama 'The Destiny of Marty Fine', directed by Michael Hacker.

Personal Life and Death

Norman Fell was married three times. Little is known about his first marriage, except that he had two daughters from that union. In 1961, he married Diane Weiss, and they divorced in 1973. From 1975 to 1995, Fell was married to Karen Weingard, before their separation.

Norman Fell passed away on December 14, 1998, due to cancer. He was laid to rest at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
