Biography of Norman Roger
Norman Roger is a Canadian composer, sound editor, and sound designer. He is particularly known for his work as a composer of soundtracks for animated films, having composed over 200 such pieces since 1970. He has also worked on creating music for documentaries, feature films, television dramas, children's series, commercials, and new technologies with 3D and virtual reality.
Work and Collaborations
Norman Roger has been the author of many original soundtracks for Frederic Back, Paul Driessen, Michael Dudok de Wit, Caroline Leaf, and Alexander Petrov. Thirteen of his works have been nominated for an Oscar, six of which have won. He has also written the theme for Mystery PBS!
Lectures and Contributions
Roger gives lectures on music and sound for animation all around the world. He has spent nearly 40 years creating soundtracks for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) in his hometown of Montreal, after being first hired at the age of 22 in its animation department. He is both an Oscar winner for Best Animated Short Film.
Personal Life
Norman Roger is married to the director and producer of animated films, Marcy Page, whom he met while working on her film "Paradise."
