Early Life and Education

Askar Zhumagaliyevwas born on January 7, 1949, in Astana, Kazakhstan. In 1971, he graduated from the Metallurgical Faculty of the V.I. Lenin Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, specializing in metallurgy engineering. He furthered his education by earning a Candidate of Science degree in 1977 and a Doctor of Science degree in non-ferrous metallurgy technology in 1990. In 1991, he was awarded the title of professor. Zhumagaliyev is an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Academy of Natural Sciences, and the International Engineering Academy.

Career Journey

Early Career (1971-1992)

Zhumagaliyev's professional path began at the Chemical and Metallurgical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR in Karaganda. He rose through the ranks from engineer to academic secretary and head of the laboratory of chemistry and technology of high-silica materials.

Government and Academic Positions (1992-2013)

In 1992, he was appointed Deputy Academician-Secretary and elected a member of the bureau of the Central Kazakhstan Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 1992 to 1997, he served as Deputy Head of the regional administration. Subsequently, he held the position of Vice Minister of Culture, Information, and Public Harmony of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 1997 to 2000. From 2000 to 2002, he was appointed Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2002 to 2004, Zhumagaliyev continued in his field as Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He then became the director general of the Republican State Enterprise "Center for Chemical and Technological Research" from 2004 to 2006.

From 2006 to the present, he has been a member of the Commission for Awarding the Al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology. Additionally, he served as President of the Joint Stock Company "Center for Earth Sciences, Metallurgy, and Enrichment" from 2006 to 2008.

Since 2008, Zhumagaliyev has held various leadership positions: First Vice President of the Kazakh National Academy of Natural Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the National Scientific and Technological Holding "Samgau," and Chairman of the Management Board of the National Scientific and Technological Holding "Parasat" from 2008 to 2013. In 2013, he became the scientific consultant of the Joint Stock Company "Scientific and Technological Center "Parasat."

Research and Publications

Zhumagaliyev is a prolific author with over 650 scientific publications, including 125 author's certificates, patents, and 27 monographs.
