Biography of Oleg Andreev

Oleg Andreev is a well-known theatrical actor who has played numerous roles and was awarded a diploma from the International Festival of Ancient Drama. However, to most of our compatriots, he is known as a brilliant performer of military roles, and perhaps the explanation for this lies in Oleg Mikhailovich Andreev's biography.

Oleg Andreev

Early Life

The origins of his career can be traced back to events that occurred before Oleg's birth, when his mother finished school. A beautiful girl applied to the GITIS (Russian Institute of Theatre Arts), but only made it to the third round and went on to study economics. However, she later decided to become a flight attendant and, during a flight, she met a young officer of the tank troops. As a result, Mikhail Andreev arrived at his new place of service with his young wife. This marked the beginning of the life of an officer's wife, with constant relocations and the birth of five children in the family, with Oleg being the second eldest. He was born on May 2, 1975, in Dresden, Germany. Despite the prestige of serving abroad, his father's salary was not enough to support the family, so his mother worked as a janitor while the older siblings looked after the younger ones. Germany, Mongolia, Novocherkassk, Germany again - despite the hardships of garrison life, Oleg himself dreamed of serving, but not in the military, but as a police officer. At the same time, he loved literature and other humanities subjects, and had difficulty with mathematics. Perhaps that's why his dreams changed by the time he reached the upper grades - the boy decided to become an actor, finding support and understanding from his mother.

Education and Acting Career

After graduating from school, Oleg moved from Dresden to Leningrad, where his parents' acquaintances lived. However, when he entered the admissions office of the Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (now the State Academy of Theatre Arts in St. Petersburg), the young man was taken aback. Tall, slender, modestly dressed Oleg saw self-assured, well-dressed young people who played unfamiliar songs on guitars and recited unknown poets. He was taken aback and decided not to tempt fate. Andreev submitted his documents to the cultural and educational college, where he was accepted without competition and housed in a dormitory, and he got a job at one of the cultural centers in Leningrad. Oleg found studying easy, and he was the only male student in the class. In his free time from classes and work, he sat in the library, visited museums and theater premieres, and after completing his studies, he confidently passed the entrance exams to the very institute he had previously hesitated to apply to. Two years later, Oleg Andreev moved to Moscow and enrolled at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, studying under V. Levertove. However, two years later, Levertove passed away, and Oleg returned to St. Petersburg.

In 1998, after graduating from the Academy of Theatre Arts, Andreev was accepted into the troupe of the Comedy Theatre and was later invited to the Leningrad Lensoviet Theatre. It was there that his friendship with Konstantin Khabensky and Mikhail Porechenkov began. It was in their company that he first met his future wife, Anastasia. After three years of persistent courtship, they had a modest wedding, where the young couple arrived without rings and in worn-out jeans. In 2003, their daughter Anya was born, followed by their son Roman in 2009. Andreev was involved in many theater productions, playing a variety of roles, from fairytale characters (Ivanushka the Fool in "Konyok-Gorbunok", Ogre in "Puss in Boots", Brother Goose in "Little Bunny Brother in the Wild West") to classical repertoire heroes (Vershinin in "Three Sisters", Pritikin in "Varvara"). In his repertoire, a special place is occupied by the ambiguous role of Sipion in Camus' "Caligula", for which Oleg Andreev was awarded the diploma of the II International Festival "Bosporus Agony" in Kerch in 2000.

Television and Film Career

However, true fame came to the actor thanks to his work in a different genre. He first appeared on television screens in the cult TV series "Streets of Broken Lanterns-2" in 1999. His role as Bratok in the 18th episode was small, but prophetic - it was in the continuation of this series that Andreev later managed to play one of his most popular roles to this day. In a sense, this debut determined his choice of the main genre for the actor. In 2001, he successfully played Genka in "Deadly Force-3", and since then he has become a highly sought-after performer of roles in crime and detective films and series. Rare exceptions include roles in the films "The Tale of Fedot the Shooter" (2000), "White Lilac" (2007), "Fan" (2012), and the TV series "Just Life" (2003), "A Big Walk" (2005), and some others. However, his roles in military uniforms have always been popular with viewers, in particular, Colonel Dyuzhev in "Kamenskaya" (2006). The most highly rated and charismatic role of Oleg Andreev is the character of Senior Lieutenant Rydanov, who first appeared in the ninth installment of "Streets of Broken Lanterns" in 2008. The filming of this series with Oleg Andreev continues to this day, and his character has already been promoted to the rank of Captain. Andrey Rydanov also appears in separate films, including "The Honor of the Samurai" (2012), which received high praise from viewers.

Despite the predominance of roles in one direction, which is not always favorable for the development of an actor's talent, theater professionals speak positively about Oleg Andreev's stage work. It is also worth noting his successful work in the military series "Sea Devils" (since 2013) and the critically acclaimed role of Mikhail Avilov in the film "Fan" (2012). Currently, Oleg Andreev lives in St. Petersburg with his family. He is actively involved in filming and theater productions, but dedicates little free time to his family. Anastasia Andreeva, who remains a theater enthusiast at heart, works as a manager at the Institute of Dentistry. When asked whether Andreev wants his children to follow in his footsteps, the actor responds evasively. He believes that the difficulties of the artistic profession can only be overcome by those who have talent, perseverance, and a strong desire to pursue it. However, Anya Andreeva is involved in dancing, loves to perform in public, and dreams of acting in movies.
