Biography of Oleg Babaev

Oleg Babaev was a Ukrainian politician, entrepreneur, and football official. He was born in 1965 in Kursk, Russia. Babaev's father was Azerbaijani, from Shamkir district, Azerbaijan, and his mother was Russian. In 1982, he graduated from Kursk Secondary School No. 10 and enrolled in the Minsk Higher Military-Political School, which he completed in 1986, specializing in "Military-Political" studies. From 1986 to 1996, Babaev served in the army. He spent the first three years serving in the Far East and then in Czechoslovakia. After the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Czechoslovakia, he ended up in Kyiv.

Business and Political Career

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Babaev faced financial difficulties and attempted to combine military service with entrepreneurship. He spent a year and a half selling used cars imported from Germany. He then ventured into the leather processing business. From 1996 to 1998, he worked as the Chief Financial Officer in the commercial structure of SP "Ptitsa LTD" in Kyiv.

In February 1998, Babaev became the Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of the Kremenchuk Meat Processing Plant. From August 1998 to July 2007, he served as the Chairman of the Board of OJSC "Kremenchukmyaso," which was part of the "Finances and Credit" financial-industrial group. Since September 2007, he has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OJSC "Kremenchukmyaso."

In 2000, Oleg Babaev graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Finance, qualifying as an economist. Since October 2003, he has been the Honorary President of the football club "Kremen" in Kremenchuk. Since April 2005, he has been the President of FC "Vorskla." From November 2010 to July 2014, Babaev served as the Mayor of Kremenchuk.

Personal Life

Babaev is divorced and has two daughters.
Achievements and Murder

Oleg Babaev was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Industry of Ukraine. He was also a judo master. Tragically, on July 26, 2014, Babaev was shot in the back with a shotgun while he was taking out the trash near his car. The murder occurred around 9:45 am on Sumskaya Street, near the house number 40 in the Avtozavodsky district of Kremenchuk, just a few hundred meters from his home. The crime was witnessed by several people who identified the car as a VAZ-2108. Despite the immediate activation of a pursuit plan, the killer could not be apprehended.
