Early Career
Born in Ukraine, Oleksandr Bezuhly began his football journey at the age of 15 at the Chernoemorets youth academy in his hometown of Odessa. In 1994, he made the transition to futsal, a variant of football played indoors on a smaller field.
Domestic League Success
Bezuhly's futsal career took off in earnest with Everbak Odessa, where he won the first league title in his debut season. Later, he moved to Lokomotiv Odessa and became a three-time Ukrainian champion and a two-time Ukrainian Cup winner. After Lokomotiv's dissolution, he joined Interkas Kyiv, adding two more league titles and a cup victory to his collection. Bezuhly's success continued at Shakhtar Donetsk, where he captured two league titles and another cup triumph.
Playing Coach and International Accomplishments
In 2008, Bezuhly returned to his hometown as the player-coach of Marrion Odessa. However, financial difficulties forced him to return to Donetsk, where he played for Sapar and helped them win the first league title. Currently, he serves as the playing coach of ITK Donetsk.
On the international stage, Bezuhly represented Ukraine with distinction. He earned silver medals at the 2001 and 2003 UEFA Futsal Championships and a bronze at the 1996 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Additionally, he was crowned world champion at the 1998 World University Futsal Championship and took the bronze in 1996.
Legacy
Oleksandr Bezuhly is widely regarded as one of the most successful futsal players in Ukrainian history. His countless domestic titles and international achievements have left an enduring mark on the sport. As a playing coach, he continues to inspire and guide the next generation of futsal stars in his hometown of Donetsk.
