Olga Gromyko is a Russian-speaking writer from Belarus. She was born on September 14, 1978, at midnight. She graduated from the Belarusian State University with a degree in Microbiology and worked at the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Minsk. She is a member of the Union of Writers of Belarus and is married with a son.
Writing Career
Gromyko began her writing career in 2003 and her first books were written in the genre of humorous fantasy. Her debut novel, "Profession: Witch," won the "Unnamed Sword" prize for the best debut novel in the genre of humorous and suspenseful science fiction at the "Star Bridge-2003" international festival in Kharkiv. She is also known for her Belorussian cycle about the witch Volha, which includes the books "Profession: Witch," "Witch-Guardian," "Supreme Witch," and "Witch's Tales," as well as the books "True Enemies" and "Belorussian Chronicles." Gromyko's works are characterized by irony, sometimes bordering on sarcasm. Her main characters are traditionally considered negative figures in the fantasy genre, such as witches, vampires, werewolves, dragons, trolls, and manticores. Two of her books, "Plus Minus" and "Cosmo-Bioluchs," were co-authored with the Latvian writer Andrei Ulanov. Her books are also published in the Czech Republic.
