Biography of Olga Kurylenko

Olga Kurylenko is a French actress and model of Ukrainian descent. She was born on November 14, 1979, in a mixed Ukrainian-Russian-Belarusian family. Her parents separated shortly after her birth, and she grew up with her grandmother and grandfather in the small seaside town of Berdyansk in Southern Ukraine. Despite their modest means, Olga pursued various artistic interests, including playing the piano, learning English, attending a dance studio, and participating in school theater productions. Initially, she dreamed of becoming a doctor like her grandmother, but her life took a different turn when she received a modeling agency's business card in the Moscow metro during a vacation with her mother in 1992.

Modeling Career in Paris

Two years later, Olga successfully auditioned and enrolled in a modeling school after moving to Paris with her mother. Despite facing numerous challenges, including language barriers and unfamiliarity with French culture, Olga persevered and became a highly sought-after model. Her photos began gracing the covers of magazines, and she became the face of many cosmetic brands. However, after achieving tremendous success as a model, Olga decided to transition into the world of acting.

Acting Success

Olga enrolled in acting courses and started taking on roles in low-budget films. While her performance in the film "L'Annulaire" (2005) received positive feedback at the Brooklyn Film Festival, her breakthrough came in 2007 when she landed the lead role in the video game adaptation "Hitman." A year later, she achieved further success in the action film "Max Payne." In the same year, Olga went through a highly competitive casting process and secured the role of the Bond girl in the film "Quantum of Solace." Her portrayal of the character required her to master the Spanish language and skydiving skills. The success of "Quantum of Solace" propelled Olga to global recognition.

Since then, she has appeared in films such as "Centurion," "There Be Dragons," and "Magic City." One of her notable works is the 2011 film "Land of Oblivion," which depicts the events surrounding the Chernobyl disaster. Currently, Olga is involved in the filming of the highly anticipated fantasy film "Empires of the Deep," where she portrays a mermaid. The film is set to be released in 2014.

Personal Life

In terms of personal life, Olga has been married twice. Her first marriage to photographer Cedric Van Mollem lasted four years and led her to obtain French citizenship. Her second marriage to businessman Damian Gabriel, marked by a lavish wedding at an old monastery, ended after a year due to their busy careers and lack of time for each other. Currently, Olga spends a lot of time with actor Danny Huston and his young daughter, but there are no plans for marriage at the moment. Olga believes that being married to another actor is a burdensome responsibility she does not want to impose on anyone. She maintains a simple and natural approach to beauty, rarely using makeup and preferring jeans and a t-shirt or a classic black dress. Olga follows a healthy lifestyle, practices a balanced diet, enjoys dancing, and playing ball games outdoors. She believes in aging gracefully and cites Brigitte Bardot as a stylish, sexy, and independent role model. Olga's life experiences have taught her to evaluate situations realistically, not indulge in illusions, and stay focused on her goals.
