Biography of Olga Parlante
Olga Parlante, also known as "The Bingo Queen," was an American woman who tragically fell victim to a crime. She was killed in her own apartment in Fort Lauderdale in March 1997. Despite the common belief that crimes are often solved quickly, sometimes even the most elusive cases find a breakthrough.
The Bingo Queen
Olga Parlante, a 71-year-old elderly woman, was well-known in her community for her love of bingo. She never missed a match at the local bingo center and earned the nickname "The Bingo Queen." Unfortunately, it was during a seemingly ordinary robbery that Olga met her untimely demise.
A Tragic Robbery
Olga Parlante was beaten and strangled to death with her own blouse during the robbery. She attempted to escape her home, but her attacker stopped her in her tracks. The perpetrator made off with her television, radio, and fireplace clock. Despite her partial paralysis, Olga lived alone and left behind nine adult children.
A Cold Case
The investigation into Olga's murder initially came up empty-handed. Her family had resigned themselves to the fact that the mystery of her death would remain unsolved. However, recent advancements in fingerprint analysis techniques breathed new life into the case.
A Suspect Emerges
Bennie Hall, a 44-year-old repeat offender currently serving time in Martin County for a different crime, became the prime suspect. The police quickly noted that Hall likely did not act alone, but identifying his accomplices is still a work in progress. For now, Hall will be charged with first-degree murder, and it is hoped that the delayed accusation will prompt him to reveal his partners in crime.
A Detective's Determination
Detective Frank Ilarraza, determined to bring justice to Olga's case, requested a reexamination of the evidence collected in 1997. In April, Hall's name resurfaced, and his fingerprints were found in the database. However, at the time of the crime, automatic comparison of the fingerprints with the national database was not yet possible due to technological limitations.
The Son's Pursuit of Closure
Mark Parlante, Olga's son, has a deep interest in the current status of the case. Seeking closure rather than vengeance, he simply wishes to look his mother's killer in the eye.
