Marie Osmond is an American actress, singer, and doll designer. She comes from a well-known family in the American entertainment industry. Although Marie herself was never part of the family group, she became famous thanks to her music. In the 1970s and 1980s, Osmond actively performed country music. Her most popular work was the ballad 'Paper Roses'.

Marie was born in Ogden, Utah, to parents Olive and George Osmond. From an early age, she was raised as a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While her brothers quickly found their place in show business, working on national television, Marie made her debut in their project at the age of three. However, she rarely appeared on television screens during the 1960s.

Unlike her two older deaf brothers, Marie was one of the few family members not involved in music. After the initial success of the group 'The Osmonds' in the 1970s, Marie's brother, Donny Osmond, began a successful solo career and quickly rose to the top of the charts, becoming a teenage idol.

The group's managers convinced Marie to participate in the family business, and after some time, she agreed and signed a contract with MGM Records. Her style was closer to country music, while her brothers mainly performed pop music. Marie recorded her first solo single, 'Paper Roses,' in 1973. The song quickly became a hit, reaching the top five on the 'Billboard' chart. Soon after, Osmond released an album featuring 'Paper Roses,' which quickly went gold, and another single, 'In My Little Corner of the World,' which had less success, reaching only the top forty.

In the early 1980s, Marie took a break from music and decided to try her hand at acting. She was offered the lead role of Sandy in the classic production of 'Grease,' but she considered the play too immoral, and the role went to Olivia Newton-John. Marie then appeared in several television films and voiced characters in animated films for a while.

Shortly before her brother Donny Osmond's successful comeback, Marie returned to country music, this time working with Curb Records. Her duet with Dan Seals, 'Meet Me in Montana,' released in 1985, quickly became a number one country hit. Soon after, she released another successful single, 'There's No Stopping Your Heart,' which also reached the top of the charts.

Throughout the 1980s, Marie released a series of singles, with her last significant work, 'What Kind of Man (Walks On a Woman),' being released in 1995. Around the same time, she returned to television, starting with the short-lived ABC project 'Maybe This Time.' In 1998, Marie launched a joint talk show with her brother Donny called 'Donny and Marie,' which lasted only two seasons.

In 2001, Marie portrayed herself in the television movie 'Inside The Osmonds,' which told the story of the rise and fall of the Osmond musical dynasty. The film highlighted the extravagant egos of Marie's brothers and her father's financial incompetence, combined with the family's incredible ambitions, which led to their downfall. The movie was produced by Marie's younger brother, Jimmy Osmond.

In 2006, Marie was invited to judge the short-lived reality show 'Celebrity Duets' on Fox. On February 26, 2010, Marie's adopted son, Michael, tragically took his own life by jumping from the eighth floor of his Los Angeles apartment.
