Early Life and Career Beginnings
Omar Rudberg, a multi-faceted singer, actor, and dancer, was born in Venezuela. At the age of 6, he relocated to Kungälv, Sweden, a city just outside of Gothenburg. Rudberg's adoptive father gave him his last name.
In 2010, Rudberg showcased his talent on the Swedish competition series "Talang," performing Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca."
FO&O Years
From 2013 to 2017, Rudberg became a member of the boy band FO&O (also known as the Fooo). His bandmates included Felix Sandman (now known for his role as Sebastian Fagerman in the series "Quicksand"), Oscar Enestad, and Oscar "Olli" Molander, who left the group in 2016. In 2017, FO&O competed in the Swedish Eurovision selection contest Melodifestivalen with the song "Gotta Thing About You." The band announced their hiatus that same year, allowing the members to pursue solo endeavors.
Solo Career and Melodifestivalen Returns
In 2018, Rudberg released his debut solo single, "Que Pasa," featuring Swedish rapper Lamix. This was followed by "La Mesa" with rapper Elias Hurtig. Rudberg returned to Melodifestivalen in 2019 with the song "Om om och om igen," which helped him achieve a top 20 position on the Swedish charts as a solo artist.
In 2021, he recorded the song "Alla ba ouff" for a Coca-Cola advertising campaign.
"Young Royals" Debut
July 1, 2021 marked the release of "Young Royals," a six-episode drama series on Netflix. In the series, Rudberg landed his breakout role as Simon, the love interest of the protagonist. "Young Royals" follows the journey of a fictional Swedish crown prince, Wilhelm, who must navigate love, duty, and his own identity after transferring to an elite boarding school.
Talang, Melodifestivalen, and FO&O
Omar Rudberg gained initial recognition through his participation in the Swedish talent show Talang in 2010. He subsequently performed twice at Melodifestivalen, the Swedish Eurovision selection contest, in 2017 and 2019. From 2013 to 2017, Rudberg was a member of the pop group FO&O, which went on hiatus in 2017.
