Omar Sharmarke, the Prime Minister of Somalia, is the son of former Somali President Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, who was elected as the country's second President after its independence in 1967 and was assassinated two years later in 1969. Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke was born on June 18, 1960.

Education and Early Life

Omar Sharmarke received his education at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he obtained degrees in Political Science and Political Economy.
