Oren Lavie, an Israeli artist renowned for his multifaceted talents, is an accomplished singer, playwright, composer, and theatrical director.
Early Life and Theatre Success
Born and raised in Israel, Lavie's theatrical talent was evident from a young age. In 1997, his play "Sticks and Wheels" won the grand prize at the Acco Festival of Alternative Theatre. The play went on to be staged in Tel Aviv theatres in 1998.
Exploring Theatre in London
Aspiring to pursue theatre direction, Lavie enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 1998. During his time in London, he directed two of his plays, which featured original songs.
Transition to Music
In 2001, Lavie relocated to New York City, where he shifted his focus to songwriting while supporting himself with odd jobs. In 2003, he moved to Berlin and embarked on recording his debut album, "The Opposite Side of the Sea."

Four years later, in 2007, "The Opposite Side of the Sea" was released in Europe. The album brought Lavie international recognition, particularly for the song "Her Morning Elegance."
Viral Success with "Her Morning Elegance"
In 2009, Israeli animators Yuval and Meirav Nathan created a widely acclaimed stop-motion music video for "Her Morning Elegance." The video amassed over 15 million views on YouTube, catapulting Lavie to online stardom.
American Triumph and Beyond
The success of "Her Morning Elegance" earned Lavie the opportunity to perform the song on Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show. Since then, he has released several more albums and continues to tour and collaborate with artists worldwide, cementing his status as a creative visionary in the global entertainment landscape.
