Early Life and Education
Robert Horn was born in New York City and pursued a theater education at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and Circle in the Square Theatre School.
Television and Film Career
Horn relocated to Los Angeles and began his writing career in television and film. He served as a writer/producer on the television series "Designing Women," followed by the Fox series "Living Single" and the CBS sitcom "High Society." Horn signed an overall production deal with Warner Brothers Studios, developing and producing numerous network pilots and series. Subsequent writing contracts with Sony Studios and ABC Studio led to the creation and writing of the FX series "Partners."
Horn's television and film credits include the Netflix movie "13: The Musical," the Disney Channel Original Movies "Teen Beach Movie," "Teen Beach 2," "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure," and "The Suite Life Movie." Additionally, he wrote "Wild Life" for Walt Disney Animation Studios and "Good Advice" starring Charlie Sheen.
Theatre Credits
Horn's theatrical works include "Dame Edna," "Back with a Vengeance," "13," "Disney's Hercules," and the Broadway musical "Shucked." His most notable theatre success came with his Tony Award-winning book for the Broadway musical adaptation of "Tootsie." Vanity Fair praised Horn's wit in the musical's dialogue, while the Chicago Tribune lauded the show's humor, attributing it primarily to Horn's book.
Other Projects
Horn's special projects include RuPaul's Christmas special for the BBC, Bette Midler's Divine Intervention Tour, and a digital musical series co-written with Jason Robert Brown for Sony Crackle.
