Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Czechoslovakia, the young political scientist's life took an unexpected turn when he was arrested at the age of 19 for attempting to illegally cross the border into Austria. After serving a suspended sentence, he embarked on a path of manual labor as a miner and construction worker.

During this time, he joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, which paved the way for him to pursue higher education. In 1974, he graduated from Charles University with a degree in philosophy and sociology.

Academic and Professional Journey

Following his graduation, he delved into academia, teaching and undertaking long-term research trips to the Soviet Union and United States. Concurrently, he maintained a position as a member of the Czechoslovak State Security apparatus.

Political Engagement

From 1989 to 1990, he served as an advisor to two communist prime ministers, Ladislav Adamec and Marián Čalfa. After the fall of communism, he transitioned to a prestigious academic career.

Academic Accomplishments

He is a professor at the Institute of International and Public Relations in Prague, a director at the Institute for Education and Consultation in Bratislava, and a research fellow at the Institute of Political Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He also holds a teaching position at Matej Bel University's Faculty of Political Science and International Relations in Banská Bystrica.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has authored over twenty scholarly books and published over a thousand academic articles, establishing himself as a prominent voice in political analysis.
