Early Career and Club Football
Otar Martsvaladze, a Georgian footballer and striker, began playing the sport at a young age. At the age of nine, he joined the Tbilisi Dynamo football school under the guidance of Tengiz Sulakvelidze. At 16, he moved to Israel and briefly played for Hapoel Tel Aviv, where he honed his skills without making it into the starting lineup due to his youth. He was part of the Israeli championship-winning team.
Martsvaladze's career continued with the Georgian club WIT Georgia, where he initially played for the second team. In the 2001/02 season, he scored an impressive 25 goals in 44 matches for WIT Georgia-2. At 18, he made his debut for the first team under the direction of coach Karnavale.
In Italy, Martsvaladze trained with a Serie B club for a brief period. In December 2005, he participated in a friendly match for the reserve team of Dynamo Kyiv, scoring a goal before returning to his homeland.
Dynamo Kyiv and Transnistria
Martsvaladze joined Dynamo Kyiv on a five-year contract in early 2006. He played two matches in the Ukrainian Premier League and one in the Ukrainian Cup during the first half of the 2006/07 season. However, he also suffered two injuries that limited his playing time.
In June 2007, Martsvaladze was put up for transfer by Dynamo Kyiv. He briefly trained with Arsenal Kyiv but ultimately moved to Transnistrian club FC Tiraspol on loan.
Further Career
Martsvaladze suffered a serious knee injury in 2008 while on trial with Ukrainian club Kharkiv. After extensive rehabilitation, he signed with FC Anzhi Makhachkala in early 2009. He made his debut for Anzhi in June 2009 and became the team's top scorer with 13 goals in 22 matches. Anzhi won the Russian First Division that season and earned promotion to the Russian Premier League.
In March 2010, Martsvaladze was loaned to FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod. The following year, he moved to FC Krasnodar, where he stayed until 2012. He then had a brief spell with FC Alania Vladikavkaz in 2013.
International Career
Martsvaladze played for the Georgian youth and under-21 teams. He received his first call-up to the senior national team while still playing for WIT Georgia but did not make any appearances. Despite not being a regular for Dynamo Kyiv, he was occasionally called up to the national team squad.
Personal Life and Playing Style
Martsvaladze is known for his speed, agility, and technical ability on the field. He is a skilled striker with a powerful shot and a strong understanding of the game. He has been compared to legendary Georgian player Vladimir Gucaev.
Off the field, Martsvaladze faced tragedy when his father died in a car accident and his mother passed away from a heart condition. Despite these setbacks, he continued his football career and is known for his positive attitude and passion for the game.
