Early Academic Career

Bollnow's journey in academia began at the University of Göttingen, where he earned a PhD in theoretical physics in 1925. While there, his interest in philosophy blossomed under the influence of thinkers such as Martin Heidegger, Wilhelm Dilthey, and Hermann Nohl.

Transition to Philosophy

In 1927, Bollnow transitioned to philosophy, becoming a student of Heidegger. He completed a doctoral dissertation on the philosophy of Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi. His academic career took a significant turn in 1931 when he obtained a professorship.

Teaching and Research

Throughout his life, Bollnow devoted himself to teaching and research. He taught as a professor of philosophy and pedagogy at various universities, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. In 1953, he was appointed to the University of Tübingen, where he remained until his retirement in 1970.
