Pablo Barrientos is an Argentine footballer who plays as a midfielder. He began his professional career in 2003 with San Lorenzo, after being promoted from the youth team. Pablo quickly earned a permanent place in the first team and his performances earned him a call-up to the Argentine youth national team. By the age of 21, Barrientos had played 72 matches and scored 7 goals in the Argentine league, as well as 15 matches and 6 goals for his national team.

Move to Russia and Return to Argentina

In the summer of 2006, there were many rumors linking Pablo to top European clubs, however, he signed an agreement with Russian club Moscow. In two seasons in Russia, Pablo played 33 matches and scored six goals. Before the start of the 2008/09 season, the management of the Moscow team decided to loan Barrientos back to San Lorenzo for a year. In that season, Pablo scored nine goals in 21 matches. After returning to Moscow in May 2009, it was announced that he had signed a contract with Italian club Catania. On May 30, 2009, Barrientos officially became a player for Catania. The club and the player agreed to a four-year contract. However, due to a serious injury, Pablo's debut in Italy did not take place until May 2010.

Loan to Estudiantes

After only playing two matches for Catania, Barrientos agreed to a six-month loan deal with Argentine club Estudiantes in January 2011.
