Early Career

Paolo Acerbis began his career with Serie C club Alzano. In 1999, he joined AlbinoLeffe, where he spent the first three seasons as a reserve goalkeeper. In 2002, he became the team's first-choice goalkeeper.

Serie A Debut

In 2006, Acerbis was loaned to Serie A side Livorno. He made his Serie A debut on February 5, 2006, in a 2-2 draw against Messina.

Return to AlbinoLeffe and Loan Spells

After his loan spell at Livorno, Acerbis returned to AlbinoLeffe. However, disagreements with the club's management led to him being demoted to the reserves. In January 2008, he was loaned out to Triestina.

Grosseto and Catania

In 2008, Acerbis signed a three-year contract with Grosseto. In January 2009, he was involved in a loan exchange deal with Serie A club Catania, with Grosseto receiving Ciro Polito in return. Acerbis made one appearance for Catania, a 1-3 defeat against Bologna.

Return to Grosseto and Vicenza

Acerbis returned to Grosseto in the summer of 2009. He was a regular until he suffered an injury in February 2010. On August 31, 2010, he joined Vicenza on the last day of the transfer window.
