Antonio Caronni: Italian Master of Engraving

Born into a family of opera singers, Antonio Caronni emerged as a skilled Italian engraver. He honed his craft at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, under the tutelage of renowned engraver Giuseppe Longhi.

Masterful Reproductions

Caronni's primary oeuvre revolved around reproducing masterpieces of Italian Renaissance painters. With meticulous precision, he engraved copper plates that captured the essence of iconic works by Raphael, Lebrun, Parmigianino, Proccaccini, Sasoferrato, and Domenichino. Among his most notable works are "Vision of Ezekiel" after Raphael, "Alexander and Darius" after Lebrun, and "Venus Nursing the Infant Cupid" after Parmigianino.
