Biography of Paolo Meneguzzi

Paolo Meneguzzi is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Tessin. He gained his first significant title in 1996 when he won the international competition Vina del Mar in Chile with the song "Aria, Ario". The following year, he released his debut album "Por Amor", which was followed by the release of the album "Paolo" in 1998. This brought him fame in South America, but he remained relatively unknown in Europe.

Breakthrough in Sanremo Festival

In 2001, Paolo's situation started to change with his debut in the youth section of the Sanremo Festival. He performed the song "Ed io non ci sto piu" and secured the seventh place. In the same year, he released another album titled "Un sogno nelle mani". His next album, "Lei e", was released in 2003 and quickly achieved gold status.

Success in Sanremo and Tours

Paolo returned to the Sanremo Festival in 2004, earning the fourth place with the composition "Guardami Negli Occhi (Prego)". This led to a re-release of his previous album with bonus tracks, which reached platinum status. Paolo embarked on his first tour across Italy and Switzerland. In 2005, he performed again at Sanremo with "Non Capiva Che L'Amavo" and released the album "Favola", which also reached platinum status with sales exceeding 200,000 copies. After another successful tour, Paolo began working on a new album.

Continued Success and Eurovision

The first single from his new album, titled "Musica", was submitted to Sanremo, where Paolo secured the seventh place. The album with the same name was then released. His new tour concerts attracted 250,000 people, and a live album was released. Paolo achieved a total of seven platinum records in his career. In February 2008, he once again participated in the Sanremo Festival, performing the song "Grande".

Despite his significant fame in Italy and the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, his name remains relatively unknown in other parts of the country. After the participation of the internationally renowned DJ Bobo in the previous competition, the Swiss press already labeled the new representative for Eurovision as "No Name".
