Early Life and Career

Angela Lansbury was born in London on July 19, 1919, to Spanish and English parents. After her father's death in 1935, she moved to the United States with her mother and enrolled in the Feagin School of Dramatic Art.

From 1937 to 1945, Lansbury starred in ten films in the United Kingdom. In 1941, she met and married Irish actor Richard Greene, with whom she later appeared in the film "Don't Take It to Heart" (1944).

Hollywood Debut and First Marriage

In 1946, Lansbury made her Hollywood debut in "The Picture of Dorian Gray." She divorced Greene in 1951 and went on to star alongside Orson Welles in "Mr. Arkadin" (1955).

Second Marriage and Retirement

In 1960, Lansbury married actor Joseph Cotten. After their wedding, she semi-retired from acting, only appearing sporadically in films such as "Murder on the Orient Express" (1974) and "The Last Unicorn" (1982). However, she did perform alongside Cotten in the Broadway production "A Delicate Balance" (1966).

Caregiving and Later Life

In 1981, Cotten was forced to retire from acting due to health problems, and Lansbury devoted herself to his care. Cotten passed away in 1994. In 1998, Lansbury published her memoir, "Angela Lansbury's Positive Moves."

In her later years, Lansbury experienced various health issues. She passed away in a Los Angeles clinic on April 28, 2012, at the age of 96. Lansbury was twice married, first to Richard Greene from 1941 to 1951 and then to Joseph Cotten from 1960 until his death in 1994. She had no children.
